MB owns a gas station in the Chicago area. He and his son JB run the store. One morning in the first week of June, MB and JB were behind the counter of the gas station store. All of a sudden, a group of 30 people charged into the store. They broke windows, tore down merchandise, and were screaming threats at JB and MB as the group advanced on the MB and JB behind the counter. Fearing for his life, MB, who is a licensed concealed carry holder, drew his weapon and fired one shot into the crowd. The crowd dispersed and one person lay shot on the ground, another dead. The police arrived and arrested both JB and MB. Fearing the worst after seeing their loved one taken into custody, MB’s family called Robert Callahan & Associates.
Our attorneys contacted the Detectives and appeared at the police station to prevent any questioning of our clients. Once we were able to put a wall between our clients and the police, we knew it was up to the police to try to find any evidence of our client’s intent when the shot was fired. Without being able to question our clients, the police knew they had a problem. This led to the release of JB, which was followed by the release of MB soon after. Had our clients not obtained counsel, that release might never have happened. If your or a loved one is ever taken into custody by the police, they need a lawyer immediately. Not in an hour, in six hours, or tomorrow, but right that very instant. Our lawyers can stop the police from interrogating your loved one into criminal charges. Call us at 312 322 9000
