Robert Callahan & Associates is pleased to announce Governor Pritzker granted the clemency petition of SV.
In the late 1970s, SV was convicted of Unlawful Possession of more than 500 grams of Cannabis, class 2 felony at time of sentencing. Though SV was growing a substance that is now legal in Illinois, this conviction significantly impacted his life negatively. His status as a convicted felon made SV running a business difficult, if not impossible. He had to find a business partner and could not be placed on any business licenses. In fact, after 30 years since his conviction, SV wanted to change career paths and open a Gaming Lounge & Parlor on his other store’s property.
His conviction prevented this from happening. His only way to pursue this new business opportunity was to obtain a pardon. That’s when SV called the experts at Robert Callahan & Associates. After extensive interviews, research, and numerous drafts, our office filed SV’s petition and represented SV at the Governor’s hearing. It is with extreme pride and pleasure that we can today report our efforts were successful. SV was granted clemency and can begin to move on with his new life and business.
